Principal's Message

Hello Northcutt Families!

On behalf of GGUSD and the Northcutt Elementary School, I am so excited to welcome you to the 2023-24 school year!  As I look back on last school year, I can’t even begin to express how proud I am of the extra effort of our wonderful staff, students and families.  I hope all of you had a great summer break and stayed safe.  I’m thrilled to embark on another great year of learning, growing and fun with all of our fantastic Northcutt community!

This next school year, we will continue to focus on our District’s Strategic Plan: Academic Skills+Personal Skills = Lifelong Success!  Our academic program is rigorous, engaging, and aligned to the state standards.  Our amazing teachers use research-based strategies to develop students’ critical thinking skills, including the meaningful use of technology in instruction, learning how to collaborate, and helping students develop scholarly habits and motivation. In addition to building a solid academic foundation, Northcutt also prioritizes supporting the social-emotional well-being of our students and families.  This year we will continue to have additional resources allocated to support students’ academic, behavioral and emotional needs.

At Northcutt, we believe quality education can be achieved through strong instructional programs, a dedicated and committed staff, and high expectations of student performance and behavior.  Effective education also results from a positive partnership of parents, students, community members, and staff.  This partnership is built on a strong foundation of commitment to student achievement and continues to grow with open communication between home and school. Part of this important partnership is to be involved with your child’s school in a variety of ways.  Some of the ways you can be involved at Northcutt include joining the PTA, Volunteering for activities and events, or joining the School Site Council or English Learner Advisory Committee.

Northcutt will continue to strengthen our Bulldog community with events such as Skate Nights, Movie Nights and amazing student performances.  We’ll also be continuing our character development program, with a focus on a specific character trait each month.  Some of our other continuing programs include a wonderful anti-bullying program, Cyber Cop, Student Council, College and Career Mentoring Program (a great program for 6th graders developed by our Superintendent, Dr. Mafi), field trip opportunities, educational assemblies and excellent Vocal and Instrumental Music Programs!

Parent communication and connection between home and school is one of our top priorities.  Our main communication tool is ParentSquare so please be sure that you have downloaded the app and are receiving all of our school and district communication.  If you have any questions or issues with ParentSquare, please call the office for assistance and support.

I truly look forward to working together with students, staff and parents to continue providing the best educational experience possible.  Thank you for your continued support of Northcutt and its programs.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at (714) 663-6537.

Sincerely,

Mr. Brian Ladd, Northcutt Principal
